The radial seal is sealed by throttling caused by the narrow gap between the outer ring surface of the shaft sleeve and the inner circle surface of the floating ring. Floating ring seal has the advantage of automatic centering, so the radial clearance can be made quite small. Spring 3 supports the moving ring.
